This is a American made pocket watch made by Elgin circa 1926. It is normally at this point I say that the watch was made for UK specifications and sent to the UK where it was cased and sold in the half hunter case. In this case, the watch was housed in a Canadian made case and it is very unusual to find an example of half hunter case which is not made in the UK.

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, Seven Jewels” # 28533356. The movement is in 100% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a gold plated AWC.Co, made in Canadan, half hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has a dark blue enamel chapter ring on the front cover and the rest of the case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition – a very clean good looking case but curiously the inside of the inner cover is tarnished and this has been caused by the glass pressing against the inside of the front cover over the years

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Elgin, Made in USA” The dial is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass over the glass and a mineral example in the front cover

The watch measures 50mm wide x 12mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set

The watch comes in a period leather box lined with velvet and silk from the original retailer in Philadelphia.
