This is a Railroad grade pocket watch made by Hampden, USA circa 1896 and comes in one of the best examples of a gold plated case I have ever seen.
Movement – the nickel full plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and is decorated with damascening. The movement has screw jewel settings and and is signed “Dueber, Canton Ohio, 17 Jewels,” # 972134. The movement also features a trade mark of an anchor within a shield and is in 95% mint condition – a beautiful example
Case – the movement comes in particularly handsome gold plated full hunter case with a hinged inner, back and front cover by Dueber
The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has a coin edged sides. The case is then ornately decorated with chasing, floral engraving and engine turning with one side having an engraved pastoral scene. The case is in 99% mint condition – practically flawless and the covers are all still stiff from virtually no use
Dial – the white enamel double sunk dial has fancy blue steel hands. It is signed “Hampden Watch Co” and is in 100% mint
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is stem wound / lever set
The watch measures 55mm wide x 18mm deep
