This is an American pocket watch made circa 1872

This is a much larger and heavier watch than usual. The case alone has 5 ounces of coin silver and the entire weight of the watch is 209g. This watch is not suitable for every day use and should not be considered as a gift unless to a collector Movement – the early gilt full plate movement has a compensated balance, an engraved watch cock and large jewels. The movement is signed “California Watch, Titus Bros, Albany, Or, Manfd, Elgin, Ill” # 200760. The movement is in 80% mint condition – some scratches and stains

Case – the movement comes in a massive 5 oz Warranted Coin Silver Hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open a few degrees when you press the pendant in. The case is decorated with coin edged sides, a vacant cartouche on the front, light engine turning and massive gold hinges. The case is in 90% mint condition – some light wear but still a very impressive case

Dial – the white enamel dial has blue steel hands and is signed “Titus Bros”. The dial is in 90% mint condition – a small hairline on the edge near the 12
