This is a rare variation on a hunter pocket watch as firstly the orientation for the winder is at 12 instead of the usual position at 3. Secondly the front cover has two halves instead of the usual one, which is hinged on the opposite side to the winder.
The watch is also decorated with a rare underpainted glass dial and the movement bridge is in the shape of a snake.
Movement – the bridge movement has a lever escapement and is decorated with damascening. The bridges are in the form of a coiled snake with engraved scales. The gold jewel settings are of an unusual continuous form also. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a silver hunter case. The case has a hinged back and inner and a double opening front cover – please read the first paragraph for more details. The inner cover is decorated with engine turning and is signed “1862, Echapppement a ancre, 20 pierre”.
The case is decorated on the back and front with carved edges and engine turning. The front cover has a Silver seam through the front to protect the front covers and this is replicated on the back but is there for symmetry and decoration having no purpose
The case is in 90% mint condition – minor wear only
Dial – the enamel dial has a pink enamel chapter ring with blue steel hands. The centre has a glass panel underpainted with a young semi naked woman. The dial is in 100% mint condition – some blemishes on the glass but no damage
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 50mm wide x 13.5mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set
