This is an American pocket watch signed Sun Dial and made circa 1888
Movement – the nickel full plate movement has a lever escapement and is decorated with damascening. The movement is signed “Sun Dial” 7667755 and is in 90% mint condition – light marks
Case – the movement comes in a coin silver and gilt metal case with gold inlay. The middle core is gold plated with a metal hinged inner. The two outer covers are coin silver and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in.
The case has carved edges and the two silver covers are decorated with gold inlay. The back cover shows an engrave country scene surrounded by a garland of gold green, yellow and pink gold flowers. The front cover has a pink gold crest surrounded by three colour gold leaves and flowers. The case is in 95% mint condition – a lovely example
Dial – the white enamel dial has fine blue steel hands and a gilt sub seconds hand. The dial is signed “Sun Dial” and is in 95% mint condition – a light hairlines at the 3
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 52mm wide x 15mm deep
The watch is stem wound / lever set
