This is a Swiss made pocket watch made for the American market. This is the Verithin grade of Gruen watches which has the name implies has a thin low profile and is perfect for waistcoats made from lighter material.
Movement – the nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement and gold train wheels. The movement is signed “Gruen Watch Co, Verithin, 17 Jewels, Adjusted Temp, Suisse” # 607522 and is in 90% mint condition – light scratches.
Case – the movement comes in a solid 14K gold open face case, which has a hinged back and snap on bezel. The case is signed “Gruen Verithin, 14K.G, Cincinnati.”
The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – small marks only
Dial – the gold coloured dial has blue steel hands and is decorated with an inner circle of bright cut engraving. The dial is signed “Gruen Veritin” – the signature is faded. The dial is in 90% mint condition – some scratches and fading on the signature and numbers
The dial has a mineral glass
The watch measures 44mm wide x 8mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch comes in a beautiful grey textured box with a gold embossed edge. The inside of the box has as an illuminated style of insert with details of the watch and the tag line “Gruen Verithin Watch. The most beautiful watch in America”
