This is an earlier Patek Philippe pocket watch which comes with its original box still retaining the spare glass under the padded recess. The watch also comes with its original bill of sales from Patek Philippe Geneve to a Monsieur V Chicandard on 22 Jul 1880 for watch 54359. It also comes with is certificate of origin and guarantee for watch 54359. All hard to find for a watch of this vintage.
Movement – the nickel high grade bridge movement has a lever escapement, compensated balance, wolf teeth winding wheels and is decorated with damascening. The movement is in 90% mint condition – light scratches and marks
Case – the movement comes in an 18K gold open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The inner cover is signed “V Chicandard, 1880, No 54359, Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneve”. The inside of the case is stamped .750. PP, 54359. The rose coloured gold case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light wear only
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of gilt hands and is in 90% mint condition – some very light hairlines and scratches.
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 45mm wide x 13mm
The watch is stem wound / stem set – the hand setting is very stiff.
The watch comes in its original leather case lined with silk and velvet. The box has its original Patek sticker on the back with the serial number clearly written. The box is showing wear but still a rare find
