This is a top quality J W Benson pocket watch and the Keyless Ludgate is extremely hard to find as a half hunter. The signs of the quality are there, the moment you pick the watch up. The watch is very heavy for its size.
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has an adjusted balance. The movement is signed “The Keyless Ludgate Watch, JW Benson, Patent No 4658, Best London Make, By Warrant to H.M. The Queen Ludgate Hill, London” # 827542. The movement is in 95% mint condition – small marks only
Case – the movement comes in a top quality English silver half Hunter case which has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open when you press the winder in. The case has makers marks for JWB as has an enamel chapter ring on the front cover and the rest of the case has a smooth plain finish
The case is in 95% mint condition – superb condition.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “J W Benson, London”. The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass over the dial and a mineral glass in the front cover
The watch is stem wound / pin set
The watch measures 51mm wide x 15mm deep
