This pocket watch was made by J W Benson of London in their Swiss factory. The movement watch was sent back to England where it was cased and sold. It comes in a top quality English silver case which has clear hallmarks for London 1936

The watch was made for the Coronation of George VI has has the royal Cypher on the reverse with the date 1937

Movement – this is a good quality gilt ¾ plate movement which has a lever escapement and is signed “J W Benson, 15 Jewels Swiss Made”. The movement is in 100% mint condition – superb condition

Case – the movement comes in a good English silver Half Hunter case by J W Benson. The case has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has blue enamel Roman numbers on the front cover. The case has the royal cypher for George VI on reverse commemorating his coronation in 1937. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition –there are two small bruises on the back

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “J W Benson, Swiss Made” The dial is in 99% mint condition. 

The watch is stem wound / stem set

The watch has a mineral glass in the front cover and a synthetic glass over the dial

The watch measures 50mm wide x 15mm deep

The watch comes in its original leather J W Benson Box which is in superb condition
