This is a superb example of an English silver half hunter verge pocket watch in 100% original condition. It has clear hallmarks for London 1814
This watch has a fusee chain driven movement. These types of movements are extremely fragile and it is very easy to break the fusee chain if you have never handled one of these watches before and so consequently we do not cover this costly repair in the warranty
Movement – the beautiful gilt full plate verge movement has an engraved watch cock with a grotesque mask. The movement is signed “Barnes and Sharp, Northmapton, 5491. The movement is in 95% mint condition -superb condition
Case - the watch comes in a silver half hunter case, which has a hinged front. The watch is wound and set from the front and swings out from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – the front cover is in excellent condition but does not pop open when you press the button on the stem inwards; it needs to be opened manually
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of original half hunter style gilt hands and an inner chapter ring for the half hunter aperture in the front cover. The dial is in 95% mint condition – light scuffing on the enamel around the winding hole.
