This pocket watch was made in Switzerland and was made for and retailed by JW Benson of London circa 1890 – 1900.

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and a start, stop and fly back chronograph function with the workings for this hidden under the dial. The movement is signed “Examined by J W Benson, 62 & 64 Ludgate Hill, London, Watchmaker by Warrant to The Queen & The Prince of Wales, Swiss Made, No. 260485. The movement is in 99% mint condition – just superb, even the screws still have their original blue purple bloom.

Case – the movement comes in a heavy 18K gold half hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has dark blue enamel numerals on the front cover. The reverse has a scroll monogram. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition

Dial – the white enamel dial has a subsidiary seconds dial as the 9 and a register for the chronograph at the 3. The watch has a full set of blue steel hands and pointers and the dial is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass over the dial and in the front cover.

The watch measures 51mm wide x 16mm deep

The watch comes in a superb example of a J W Benson vintage box. The leather box is lined with silk and velvet and is fully signed and also features the Royal Warrant.
