This is an English gilt pair cased verge made circa 1770
The movement has a good balance and chain but the watch runs too fast and gains over an hour in 24 hours
Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has square baluster pillars and a pierced watch cock with a silver regulator disc. The movement is signed “Willm Edwards Junr, London” 1021 and is in 95% mint condition
Inner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case, which has a hinged bezel. The movement is wound from the back, set from the front and accessed from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 80% mint condition – there is gilding missing but this is honest wear.
Case – the original and matching outer case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 80% mint condition – again there is gilding missing but this is honest wear.
Dial – the white enamel dial has mismatched gilt hands and is in 95% mint condition
The watch has a bulls eye mineral glass
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with old period keys
The watch measures 45mm x 22mm
