This is an English silver half hunter pair cased verge with hallmarks for Birmingham 1809.

The movement has a good balance and chain but the watch runs too fast and gains over an hour in 24 hours

Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has cylindrical pillars and a finely pierced watch cock decorated with flags and a grotesque face. The movement also has a a blue steel regulator disc. The movement is signed “J Barns and is in 80% mint condition – many scratches on the signature

Inner case – the movement comes in an English silver inner case, which has a hinged  covered bezel with a small glazed aperture. The movement is wound from the back, set from the front and accessed from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish with the usual groove from the outer and is in 90% mint condition – superb condition

Case – the original and matching outer case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 85% mint condition – some honest wear on the back but still a good example.

Dial – the white enamel dial has a correct pair of gilt half hunter hands and is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a synthetic glass in the front cover

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with old period keys

The watch measures 52mm x 21mm
