This is a fusee drive verge pocket watch with an alarm function.
Due to the delicate nature of these watches, this type of watch is not a suitable purchase for someone with little experience of handling watches.
Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has a fusee chain with a verge escapement and also a second mainspring to power the alarm function. The movement has a pierced watch cock, a silver regulator disc and is signed “Protas a Lyon” and is in 99% mint condition – superb condition
The movement has a gilt spring loaded dust cap which is also signed.
Case – the movement comes in a silver open face case, which has a hinged bezel and back. The inner cover is decorated with beautiful deep engraving and pierced work. The inside of the back cover has a silver touche mark and case numbers.
The rest of the case has coin edged sides and a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands including an alarm hand. The dial has two winding holes – one for the watch, the other for the alarm. The dial is signed “Protas a Lyon” and is in 90% mint condition – some very faint hairlines on the 11-12 and some scratches on the dial from the rotation of the hands
The watch has a mineral bullseye glass
The watch measures 55mm wide x 25mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key
