This is an English silver pocket watch which has Chester hallmarks for 1859

The watch has a good chain and balance but will only tick for a short while and then stop. 

It has not been cleaned or serviced. 

Movement – the gilt 3/4 plate lever movement is fusee driven with a lever escapement. It has a steel balance wheel and is signed “J Jenkins, Merthyr” 73615. The movement is also signed Patent on the watch cock and in 90% mint condition – good condition

The watch has its original spring release gilt dust cap

Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound and set from the back, and the movement is accessed from the front. The case is decorated with engine turning on the back and coin edged sides. The case is in 90% mint condition – light wear only

Dial – the off white enamel dial has mismatched blue steel hands and is in 75% mint condition – several hairlines around the bottom edge

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 49mm wide x 15mm deep

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an antique watch key
