This is an English silver pocket watch made for use by the UK Government and military in the First world war. This watch although used was treated very carefully and in some areas, looks unused
Movement – the top quality English gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a gold cap on the escape wheel and lever. There is an additional wheel on the top plate for the centre seconds hand on the dial. The movement is signed “A. Johannsen & Co, 149 Minories London” # 7825. The movement is also engraved with a military arrow. The movement is in 98% mint condition – superb condition
Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which as a hinged inner, back and bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – there are some very small marks on the outside of the case, the inside however is in the same condition as when it was made.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “A. Johannsen & Co, 149 Minories, London, 7825” and has also got a military broad arrow. The dial is in 99% mint condition – minor loss of enamel on the signature.
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 52mm wide x 16mm deep
