This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This seal is damaged hence the low price
This is an early gilt metal seal with a square base set with a dull blue stone. The stone is engraved with the intaglio of a “France” holding a French revolutionary cap on a pike. The words are hard to make out due to the crack in the stone but is “Better “missing word” be than without them”
The domed base has milled detailing and a strut handle
The seal measures 31mm high x 20mm x 16mm wide and is in 60% mint condition – the stone is badly cracked and the seal is worn
