This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a seal fob made circa 1820 and would make a lovely charm or if grouped with some other pieces, it could make a very interesting pendant.
Please note this is a smaller sized seal
This is a Georgian gold on metal seal. It is not solid gold and has traces of metal coming through the gold in places.
The seal is set with a foil baced purple glass stone engraved with the intaglio of a horse
The gold seal has an ornate yellow gold on metal carved shank and handle decorated topped with a carved suspension ring.
The seal measures 20mm x 11mm x 9mm.
The seal is in 80% mint condition –rubbed on the edges around the base and the handle with metal showing through the gold casing in places.
