This is an American watch case opener.
These were given away as promotional gifts from the case makers and watchmakers of the time. Occasionally a private retailer would then engrave the business name on reverse and very occasionally the whole item was produced by an individual jewellers or watchmaker rather than a larger company.
These steel case openers are all designed to open pocket watch case although I would advise that you should have some experience before trying this with an older case opener such as these as a slip could scratch the case.
This is a rare example is from the Keystone watch club – “The best watches in clubs at $1 a week at the lowest prices” and is in the shape of a pocket watch with an engraved train on one side.
The opener can be attached to a watch chain
It measures 37mm x 20mm and is in 80% mint condition – a previous owner has lightly engraved their name on the opener and the opener shows signs of use.
