Code: AM113
This is an unmounted stone with intaglio.
It is made of glass and was designed to be inserted into a seal shank or desk seal and used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglios
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and are included with the seal.
This is a black glass stone with bevelled edges
On one side there is an intaglio of Cupid or Eros, with his bow and arrow hanging by his feet – not pointing in some ones direction
Around this figure are the words in French “L’amite est L’amour sans ailes” = Friendship is love without wings”. This is an intaglio for unrequited love – it can either be meant as “let us be more than just friends” or the response when a love interest crashes all your hopes when you are told that “we’re just friends!
The stone measures 15.5mm x 13.6mm x 2
The stone is in 95% mint condition
