This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a SMALL seal fob made circa 1850 and would make a lovely charm or if grouped with some other pieces, it could make a very interesting pendant.
This is a Victorian gilt seal set with a foil backed yellow glass stone engraved with the intaglio of 7 small x (crosses) and the words “in life”, representing the weary phrase “Crosses in Life”
The very gilt seal has a carved base and a strut handle and suspension loop
The seal measures 17mm x 10mm x 9mm (this is a SMALL SEAL)
The seal is in 90% mint condition – the gilding has worn away and there is a small repair on the suspension loop
