This pocket watch key was made in the first half of the 1600s and is the first example I have seen other than in paintings of the period. It is much smaller than keys in the later 1600s or 1700s and is very delicate. The rotating oval handle is decorated with pierced work and then also engraved. The key measures 29mm x 20mm and is in 95% mint condition
