This is a very early pocket watch key from the late 1680s
The key is much bigger than usual and has a large carved handle decorated with pierced work. Inside the handle is a concealed steel hook.
The key also has a fancy carved handle with an oval shape and diamond shape joined by a flower.
The key has the two winding ends and is a size 1 and 6.
The key measures 45mm x 38mm and is in 95% mint condition – a tiny nick on one winding end
