This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a gilt Victorian seal
The oval base is set with a red and white agate stone which has the initial F cut into it
The domed base is decorated with fine chasing
The handle is then formed of gilt wire with an intricate knot design and topped with a suspension loop
The seal measures 20mm x 13mm x 10mm
The seal is in 95% mint condition – a lovely piece
