This is a vintage pocket watch made in Switzerland but sent to England where it was cased and sold.

The watch has a wonderful inscription relating to the First World War

Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “17 Jewels, Swiss Made, Adjusted”. The movement is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a gold plated open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel made by Dennison. The inner cover has the following inscription:

“Presented by the people of Clay Cross to A / Sgt G Burnett M.M. RE, who obtained the M.M. in The Great War 1014-1918”

The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Anida”. The dial is in 99% mint condition – there is a tiny chip on the edge of the dial hidden completely by the bezel.

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 50mm wide x 13mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set
