Rare revolving dial pocket watch with sunburst dial c1910

Code: 3.35

SOLD

This is a Swiss pocket watch made circa 1910 and has a very rare way of telling the time with two revolving dials moving at slightly differing speeds. The outer track on the dial is for the hours and the inner track is for the minutes.

In the 30 plus years I have been dealing with pocket watches this is only the second example I have seen and this particular watch came from a private collection and is in exemplary condition

Movement – nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with striped damascening and is signed “Draga Watch Co, Switzerland, 15 Jewels, 3 adjustments”. The movement is in 95% mint condition.

Case – the movement comes in a gunmetal open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and snap on bezel. The inside of the back cover is signed “Draga Watch Co, Switzerland”.

The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – this case is in superb condition for a gunmetal case

Dial – the unusual gilt dial has an offset pair of revolving dials, moving at differing speeds. The upper track displays the hours and the inner track displays the minutes. The centre has an image of the world. The dial is then decorated with an elaborate sunbeam in high relief and the longest beam is the indicator for the hour. The gilt dial has a burnished luminous quality which changes in colour depending on how the light catches it. The dial is signed “Tildy, Brevete, Swiss” and is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 51mm wide x 11mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set
