This is a rare early 18 size Waltham pocket watch made by Waltham 1874
Although the model 57s were made in their 1000s, there were only 100 made in this particular run.
Movement – the gilt full plate model 1857 movement has a lever escapement and 7 Jewels. The movement is signed “Wm Ellery, Waltham, Mass, Foggs Patent” # 745225 and is in 90% mint condition – cloudy stains and marks
Case – the movement comes in an American Sterling silver open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and a vacant crest on the back. The case is in 85% mint condition – light wear but still a good example
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “American Watch Co”. The dial is in 95% mint condition – a very faint forked hairline at the 2
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 53mm wide x 18mm deep
