This is an English pocket watch made for use by the British military forces circa 1919.

Military watches have a harder life than most watches and one of the components which can break easily is the balance staff. This watch has a balance platform which could be removed if broken and easily replaced.

Movement – the gilt full plate movement has a lever escapement and a removeable and replaceable balance platform as described above. The movement has a government issue arrow engraved onto the top plate and is numbered D16167. The balance platform is engraved Reg No 664485. The movement is in 90% mint condition – 1 scratch across the plate.

Case – the movement comes in a heavy and thick English silver case, which has a screw off back and bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – 2 small nicks on the back edge of the case; the rest shows light wear only

Dial – the white enamel dial has a complete set of blue steel hands and is signed “British Watch Co Limited, Trade Mark, London”. The dial is in 75% mint condition – numerous hairlines

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 55mm wide x 20mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set
