This seal has a base carved with an intaglio and was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal
This is a larger seal and would make an interesting pendant
The gilt metal seal has an oval base set with a carnelian stone engraved with an armorial intaglio and the initials EML
The seal has classic tapered strut handle and is topped with a suspension loop.
The seal measures 35mm x 27mm x 20mm and is in 90% mint condition –the gilding on the shank has gone brassy with use but still a lovely Georgian seal
