This pocket watch was made by J W Benson of London in their Swiss factory. The movement watch was sent back to England where it was cased and sold. It comes in an English silver case which has clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1928
Movement – the nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement and is signed “15 Jewels, Swiss Made”. The movement is decorated with fish scale damascening and is in 95% mint condition – superb condition
Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case by Dennison, which has a hinged inner, back cover and bezel. The case has coin edged sides and engine turning and is in 85% mint condition – some light marks and dents reflected in the price
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of gilt hands and is signed “J W Benson, London, Swiss Made”. The dial is in 99% mint condition – a tiny scratch on the dial
The watch is stem wound / stem Set
The watch measures 50mm x 16mm deep
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch comes in its original red leather box, lined with silk and velvet, signed “J W Benson, Ltd” The box does show wear to the leather and the silk is stained in places but still a perfectly acceptable presentation box
