Rare Minute repeater with independent seconds pw mov c1890

This is a Swiss movement made for an retailed by Thos Russell & Son

The movement is key wound and key set – does not come with a key

The movement is complete but one spring is broken, the other spring is fully wound and the repeater function will move to a half way point, jam and power down without chiming.

The balance is also broken

Movement – the light gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a compensated balance. The movement has an independent seconds function with two springs. The movement has a slide activated minute repeater function with two hammers striking on gongs. The movement is signed “Independent Seconds Minute Repeater by Thos Russell & Son, Liverpool and London, Makers to the Queen 64005” The movement is in 90% mint condition

Dial – the dial has a sunken centre and is signed “Independent Seconds Minute Repeater by Thos Russell & Son 64005” The dial is in 99% mint condition – no hands

The movement measures 44mm wide x 9mm deep
