This watch is one of the most unusual pieces I have had the pleasure of selling these past 30 years. It is a Swiss pocket watch which has a repeater function with an independent seconds function; this is a rare combination. Plus it has a very unusual rare textured dial. The whole piece is of the highest quality and is not your run of the mill gold repeater.
Movement – the gilt bridge movement has a cylinder escapement with parachute compensation. The watch has a push down stem activated quarter repeater function with two steel hammers striking on the inner gongs. It also has an independent seconds mainspring with a stop start lever for the dead seconds hand on the dial. The movement is in 99% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a solid 18K gold open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and front. The inner cover has two winding holes for the two mainsprings and is engraved with a stag and horse and the words “Compensateur a Parachute, Echappement a Cylindre en pierre, huit trous en rubis”.
The case has coin edged sides and engine turning. The case has two slides; one to operate the dead seconds hand and the other to disable the repeater function
The case is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of gilt breguet hands and a blue steel centre seconds hand. The centre of the dial is decorated with an ivory coloured circle engraved with a spiders web pattern
The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch measures 54mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set
The watch has a mineral glass
