This is a huge silver pocket watch made in Switzerland circa 1890
The watch is much bigger than usual and measures 112mm long from the bow to the opposite edge x 74mm wide x 23mm deep. I have taken an image of the watch next to a regular 50mm watch / 16 size watch as comparison
Movement – the attractive nickel ¾ plate movement is much larger than usual and has a lever escapement and is decorated with unusual frosted damascening. The movement is in 95% mint condition – superb condition
Case – the movement comes in a massive silver case which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The inner cover is signed “Remontoir, No 50457, Ancre Ligne Droite, 15 Rubis”. The inner cover is also decorated with beautiful two tone engraving and the inside of the back of the case is also decorated with fine engine turning.
The back of the case is stepped with quite a large deep profile and the case also has coin edged sides, engine turning and a large vacant crest on the back. The case is in 95% mint condition – superb condition with one small bruise on the edge
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 74mm wide x 23mm deep
The watch is stem wound / pin set
