This is a Swiss made pocket watch by Zenith made for and used by the American government during the Second World War.
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is signed “Zenith Prima, 17 Jewels, 2242068 and is in 95% mint condition.
Case – the movement comes in a silver open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The case is signed on the inside “Zenith Watch Co, Swiss”. The back of the case is engraved with “Corps of Engineers, USA, No 12428”. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – light marks and scratches on the back only and some small spots of black, from when the case was originally covered in gutta percha – evidence can be seen on the inside cover which has a dark finish
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is faintly signed “Zenith” and is in 95% mint condition – no damage, just a faded signature
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 52mm wide x 13mm deep
