This is a fusee drive verge pocket watch with an alarm function.
It comes with a lovely example of a brass cased plunge universal pocket watch key
Due to the delicate nature of these watches, this type of watch is not a suitable purchase for someone with little experience of handling watches.
This watch has a fusee chain driven movement. These types of movements are extremely fragile and it is very easy to break the fusee chain if you have never handled one of these watches before and so consequently we do not cover this costly repair in the warranty.
Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has a fusee chain with a verge escapement and also a second mainspring to power the alarm function. The movement has a pierced watch cock, a silver regulator disc and is in 99% mint condition – superb condition
Case – the movement comes in a silver open face case, which has a hinged bezel and back. The inner cover is decorated with beautiful deep engraving and pierced work. The inside of the back cover has a silver touche mark and case numbers.
The rest of the case has coin edged sides and a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands including an alarm hand. The dial has two winding holes – one for the watch, the other for the alarm. The dial is signed is in 75% mint condition – numerous hairlines in the centre and some scratches on the dial from the rotation of the hands
The watch has a mineral bullseye glass
The watch measures 52mm wide x 20mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key
