This is a Continental verge pocket watch made circa 1810
The balance and escape wheel are inverted (positioned upside down) so that the dial has a mock pendulum function
The movement has a fusee chain and so is very delicate and we cannot offer a full warranty on this watch. The watch gains around 30 minutes a day but does run the full length of its chain
Also please note, that I removed the domed glass in many of the images as it was creating distorted images of the dial
Movement – the gilt full plate verge fusee movement has an engraved back plate free of balance cock etc – this all positioned under the dial with an inverted escape wheel also.
The movement is in 95% mint condition – some cloudy patches and small marks only
Case – the silver open face case, has a hinged bezel and the watch is wound and set on the dial and accessed through the front. The case has coin edged sides and a smooth plain finish on the back. The case is numbered 22258 and is in 90% mint condition – 1 small ding on the bezel and two very small bruises on the back
Dial – the silver dial has an off set white enamel dial with gilt hands. Above this is a curved aperture with a blue steel back and has a swinging steel mock pendulum function. The dial is decorated with bright cut engraving and is in 95% mint condition – the silver dial and mock pendulum are in superb condition; the white enamel dial does have some small marks
The watch has a domed mineral glass
The watch measures 55mm wide x 20mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set
