This is a Swiss pocket watch which has a huge 8 day mainspring taking up the back of the watch. Due to this the balance and regulator and visible through the front dial area.
There are many variations of this 8 day mainspring but Hebdomas was the patent name given to this brand.
Movement – the pocket watch movement is completely hidden by the large mainspring barrel signed “Spiral Breget Levees Visbles, 8 Jours, Qualite Superieure Garantie”. The mainspring barrel is then decorated with engraved medals and awards
The cover is in 90% mint condition – light tarnish
Case – the movement comes in a chromed metal open face case, which has a hinged back and a snap on bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 85% mint condition – some small amounts of metal coming through the chrome but still a good case.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of blue hands and a visible balance and regulator. The dial is decorated with gold enamel shamrocks and a blue enamel chapter ring for the numbers. The dial is signed “Orator, 8 Days Hebdomas”. The dial is in 80% mint condition - hairlines on the 2 and from the centre to the balance
