This early movement comes in a purpose made case with dial c1800
The movement ticks and runs very well. The alarm function also works but I can see no way to set the alarm and so this will need some creative thinking or a professional eye which can maybe see how the alarm can be set.
The watch is sold as is with no warranty
Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has an exposed steel balance and an alarm function. The spring barrel for the alarm is decorated with brushed gilt and engraved faces.
The movement has large Egyptian style pillars and is signed “Balthazar Martinot a Paris” and is in 90% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a large silver open face case with a large bell set into the back of the back cover. This fixed back cover has an engraved and pierced border so that the ringing sound can be heard more clearly. The watch is wound and set from the front and swings out from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – light wear only
Dial – the large white enamel dial has three blue steel hands and two winding holes. One for the watch; the other for the alarm
The dial is in 90% mint condition – some light hairlines
The movement measures 40mm wide x 25mm deep
The oversize case measures 74mm wide x 35mm deep
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key
