This is a Swiss pocket watch which has a huge 8 day mainspring taking up the back of the watch. Due to this the balance and regulator and visible through the front dial area. The watch runs well and keeps good time to around 1-2 minutes a day which is considered good for this type of watch.
There are many variations of this 8 day mainspring but Hebdomas was the patent name given to this brand.
Movement – the pocket watch movement is completely hidden by the large mainspring barrel signed “Spiral Breget Levees Visbles, 8 Jours, Qualite Superieure Garantie”. The mainspring barrel is then decorated with engraved medals and awards
The cover is in 90% mint condition – light marks
Case – the movement comes in a silver open face case, which has a hinged back and a snap on bezel. The case is decorated with engine turning. The case is in 85% mint condition – some bruises on the sides and back cover but still a good case
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of blue steel hands and a visible balance and regulator. The dial is decorated with silver enamel flowers, and has silver and red enamel cartouche enamel numbers. The dial is signed “8 Days, Hebdomas, Swiss Made”. The dial is in 99% mint condition
