In over 30 years of dealing with watches I have never seen a piece like this.
It is made by a collaboration of several American companies circa 1930
It is in unused condition.
Watch; This is a small wrist watch sized movement. Nickel bridge with a lever escapement and signed “Biedermen Freres, 7 Jewels, Swiss”. The movement is in 100% mint condition
The movement has a silvered dial with gilt hands, signed “Rockford”
The movement sits in a hinged gilt metal holder with a snap on bezel and mineral glass
This measures 27mm wide x 10mm deep and is stem wound / stem set.
The watch sits in the much larger compact.
The front is decorated with an etched image of a pocket watch and the outer edges have floral detailing. The back of the base is completely plain.
The compact hinges open to reveal that the lid is set with a mirror
The base has another hinged compartment. This is decorated with engine turning and signed “Illinois Watch Case Company, made in USA”. This hinges open to reveal a compartment for powder and its original fabric puff, signed “Elgin American”
The compact measures 85mm wide x 23mm deep
The compact is in unused condition
It comes with its original black and red silk cover.
