This is a Swiss pocket watch and would have been hung from a necklace or chain. The cover is sprung and covers the dial completely in a resting position. The watch is designed not to have a glass over the dial as the cover protects it completely.
The fan cover is pushed up and open and the watch sits in a hinged recess which can be levered open to get access to winding and setting.
Movement – the good quality nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Mido, 15 Jewels, 3 Adj, Swiss Made” and is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement sits in a silver hinged circular case which has a snap on back and bezel. The two piece fan shaped outer case, has a push swivel open front cover and a fixed back cover. The back of the fixed case is signed inside “Mido. Brevet Dem Sterling Silver Swiss, D.R.P. Ang British Pat, Brevete SGDG 294814”. The case is also numbered 294814 on the hinged and sprung front cover. The case is decorated with engine turning and a tear drop design. The case has a fixed suspension loop and is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the silvered dial has old luminous hands and numbers which have long lost their luminosity. The dial is signed “Mido, Very Smart” and is in in 95% mint condition
The watch case measures 56mm long inc the suspension loop x 37mm wide x 11mm deep
