These pocket watches are known as fusees. Inside the movement there is a very fine chain. These chains are very easy to break if you wind the watches the wrong way and sometimes they just suddenly break from old age. Repairing these watches is costly and can be several hundreds of pounds. Consequently we sell these watches with no warranty. This particular watch is working well and keeps excellent time but is still sold with no guarantees or warranty
Movement – the gilt full plate fusee movement has a lever with a steel balance. The movement is signed “E Harrison, Bradford” and is in 85% mint condition – some light scratches.
The movement has its original gilt dust cap
Case – the movement comes in an English silver case, with hallmarks for Chester 1842. The case has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound from the back, set from the front and is accessed from the front also. The case has a vacant cartouche on the back. The case decorated with engine turning and coin edged sides. It is in 90% mint condition – there is one bruise on the edge and light marks elsewhere but overall in excellent condition
Dial – the off white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The hands are particularly fine with beautifully shaped tips. The dial is signed “Improved Patent” and is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a bulls eye mineral glass
The watch measures 51mm wide x 18mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old key of the period
