Gilt pair cased verge by Chas CABRIER c1735

This is an English pair cased verge made by the eminent watch maker Charles Cabrier circa 1730

Movement – the fine gilt full plate verge movement has beautifully detailed urn pillars and a winged pierced watch cock with a pierced wedge shaped foot. The movement has a silver regulator disc and is signed “C Cabrier, London, 2” # 5829. The movement is in 95% mint condition – superb condition and beautiful gilding also

Inner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case, which has a hinged bezel. The watch is wound from the back, is set from the front and is accessed from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light wear only

Outer case – the original gilt outer case has a watch paper from Stamford. The case is in 75% mint condition – there is metal coming through the gilding on the back which is from the watch being carried and is classed as “honest wear”

Dial – the white enamel dial has a beautiful pair of gold beetle and poker hands. The dial is in 99% mint condition

The watch has a domed mineral glass

The watch measures 48mm wide x 25mm deep
