This is a wholly original verge pocket watch made circa 1810
Because these watches are fragile and easy to break, they do not come with our usual warranty.
Movement – the gilt full plate fusee movement has a verge escapement and features a finely pierced watch cock, partially engraved top plate and silver regulator disc. The movement is signed “Sam’ Wright, London, No 1801. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Inner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case, which has a hinged bezel. The watch is wound from the back, is set from the front and is accessed from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light wear only
Outer case – the original gilt outer case has a watch paper from Southampton. The case is in 75% mint condition – there is metal coming through the gilding on the back which is from the watch being carried and is classed as “honest wear”. There is also evidence of a sticker which has also left its mark
Dial – the white enamel dial has an off set dial and sub seconds dial. The dial has a beautiful pair of gold hands and a large sub seconds hand. To the side is a lever. This will stop and start the movement. The dial is in 99% mint condition - 1 scratch.
