This is an American pocket watch made by Elgin. It is known as a dress watch as it was designed to be slimmer and lighter; ideal for waist coats / vests made of lighter material, which became fashionable in the interwar years.
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is decorated with damascening and is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, 15 Jewels” 33125827. The movement is in 90% mint condition – light marks only.
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated open face case, which has a screw on back and bezel. The case is decorated with engraved flowers, with a small monogram in the centre. The case is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the white enamel dal has a full set of blue steel hands, is signed “Elgin” and is in 95% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 48mm wide x 10mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
