Victorian gold plated long guard chain with stone set slide c1890

This is a very long chain which can be worn around the neck as a necklace. It can be doubled up to create a shorter version or kept long. The shorter version is ideal for pendants or fob watches. As a longer version, it would have been used to hang an eye glass or spectacles or as a very long necklace. The chain is made up of a length or close parallel curb links and has a dog clip at one end. Keeping the two strands together is a carved slide set with seed pearls and an opal.  The chain measures in total 1200mm, with a length of 640mm for the long version and 310mm for the doubled version. The chain is in 95% mint condition – a lovely example
