Rare 16s 23J Elgin Veritas pocket watch c1910

This pocket watch was made by the Elgin National Watch company and was on the nest quality watches they produced. Not only is it a 23 Jewel Railroad grade pocket watch it has a gilt hairspring

Movement – the top quality nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a gold capped endstone, a gold capped lever, raised gold jewel settings, a gilt hairspring and is jeweled to the mainspring cover with a raised gold jewel setting there also. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “Veritas, Elgin, Ill, USA, 23 Jewels, Adj 5 positions” # 14231690. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some scratches on the case screws.

Case – the movement comes in a gold plated open face case, which has a screw off back and bezel. The case is decorated with floral engraving and engine turning. The case has milled sides and is in 90% mint condition – some small marks on the bezel

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk, has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Elgin”. The Montgomery style dial has continuous with a 6 in the sub seconds and is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 50mm wide x 13mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set
