This is an English 9K gold Benson pocket watch with an English movement.

The watch has clear hallmarks for London 1933

It is one of the best examples of a J W Benson open face pocket watch I have seen for quite some time

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “J W Benson, 62 & 64. Ludgate Hill, London, The New Ludgate, Best London Make, X6406”. The movement is in 100% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a solid 9K gold open face case, which has a hinged back and snap on bezel by JWB. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 100% mint condition

Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of gilt hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. The dial is signed “J W Benson, London” and is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 50mm wide x 13mm deep

The watch is stem wound / pin set

The watch comes in its original leather J W Benson box lined with silk and velvet
