Rare silver hunter pocket watch with a THERMOMETER dial c1850

This pocket watch has a good balance and spring and will tick but has not been cleaned or serviced

Movement – the gilt bridge movement has a lever escapement and is in 75% mint condition – many scratches and marks

Case – the movement comes in a silver hunter case, which has a hinged back and front cover and a hinged metal inner cover signed “Patent Lever”. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the button on the case in and the case has coin edged sides, engine turning. The case is in 90% mint condition – some wear but still a good example

Dial - the white enamel has a set of blue steel Breguet type hands and the dial is double sunk. In the centre recess is a glass thermometer with an indicator and marked Fahrenheit. The thermometer is working but is more of a novelty feature rather than a scientific instrument. The dial is in 99% mint condition – small dirt specks rather but no damage
