Victorian hunter pocket watch by Elgin with Masonic dial c1896

This is a gold plated hunter pocket watch. The movement was made by the American company Elgin.

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and 7 jewels. The movement is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA” # 6085291 and is in 99% mint condition – a very clean example

Case – the movement comes in a gold plated half hunter case by the Keystone watch case company, USA. The case has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has chased sides and is beautifully decorated with two horses heads on the back and rich chased detailing on the edges and front cover. The case is in 95% mint condition – a lovely example

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Elgin”. The dial is decorated with a painted Masonic symbol and also “In Hoc Signo Vinces” and also the original owner’s name “R K Miller”. The dial is in 95% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 54mm wide x 13mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set

The watch comes in a vintage leather box lined with silk and velvet signed by the NY retailer.
